American company.
I ordered some tobacco for a friend. The firm quoted 21 working days for delivery.
After a month, I contacted them, to say the order had not arrived.
They said they would compensate me with store credit.
Quote - With this credit you will be able to order any non-alcohol and non-tobacco items we offer. This credit will appear as discount points in your DFD account.
I am not interested in this.
How do I stand regarding a cash refund?
Can I insist on this, even though their terms of use states - Duty Free Depot.com will not be held responsible for lost / stolen and / or seized orders by Customs.
Surely they should have had tracking in place.
And, can I request seeing proof of posting?
Hope you can help.
Thank you.
Your tobacco hasn't been seized by Customs because Duty Free Depot almost certainly haven't actually sent anything. This is because they are scammers with a terrible reputation. Many people have complained that they've either received counterfeit rubbish or nothing at all.
According to Web of Trust Dutyfreedepot.com is 'engaged in the selling or distribution of bogus or fraudulent applications and/or provision of fraudulent services'

Their website doesn't appear to have a contact address on it. There is a phone number with a New York prefix however the owner spammed another site and gave his location as Israel.

The best thing you can do is to contact your credit card company about a chargeback.0 -
Thank you so much for that valuable information, coopdivi.
I always said that I was too security concious to fall for a scam.
How wrong can one be.
I paid by debit card. And I don't think they work the same as credit cards. I am not positive about that, though.
But, I shall ask my bank.
Thank you again.A greyhound is for life - not just for racing.0 -

Thank you wealdroam.
Your signature applies to me.
Something I have just thought of. I have never held a passport, so am unfamiliar re Customs & Excise.
That is probably why I did not suspect anything.A greyhound is for life - not just for racing.0 -
@ Coopdivi.
Tried to send you a message.
Thank you so much for the links regarding Duty Free.
I have downloaded the WOT app.
Just hope it will keep me out of trouble altogether, now.
