Wrong date given on redundacy notice letter

Options
Can anybody in the know give me some advice.
I was called in for meeting on 15/04/14 to tell me my job was being made redundant (its going to china). was told I was entitled to 8wks notice as I have done 8 yrs there.
I had already worked out that this took me to 13th june and this was confirmed by hr and my manager.
i received my letter a day later, but it seems i was to interested in the money and did not check my finish date...and it has now come to light that it has a typo and hr has put 13th july.
i have email hr today and they have confirmed it is a mistake and want to give me a new letter with the 13th june as my finish date.
Can i reject this letter?
I would like to say i am willing to work till 13 july or they can pay me the extra 4 weeks money and i will leave in june.
i know that they need head count down by end of june.

any ideas or knowledge of this situation would be gratefully received.

The date on the letter may have been mistyped, but it doesn't change your statutory entitlement. So you could turn up and get paid nothing.
  • Thanks for the replies. ...guess there's no extra money to be made from this then.
