Scottish Power's latest money-maker

They rip us off - to a far greater extent than inflated meter readings rip them off.0

Here's more feedback. Scottish Power have still not resolved the issue - indeed they have gone quite silent (almost, see below). I put in a written complaint which they acknowledged on 20th June - with a promise of a response within 5 working days. Huh!
The only contact I have had from them is over my decision to switch to a slightly cheaper tariff. The result was that they increased my monthly Direct Debit to £3,489.83 ! Naturally, I complained and the promise was a return to the previous £110 per month. A few days later they sent a message that "as requested" the DD would be £1,708.36 per month. Another phone protest brought it back down to £110, only to be superceded 4 hours later by a lift to £160 per month. As of Friday evening it was back down to £110.
Now the only rationale to this is that the £1,708.36 was the Yearly estimate for my consumption under the new tariff - and this, plus all of the other errors, suggests to me that SP have suspended their new accounting package and are working on a manual basis with all that that implies in an environment where everyone has stopped thinking for themselves. ("Well, the computer takes care of it all, doesn't it?")
Anyone within SP like to confirm this?0 -
I was £288 in credit with SP on 01/08/2014.
For some reason they have refunded this to my current account and in addition reduced my monthly DD by £34 a month.
They predict my expenditure over the next 12 months to the nearest penny; and their new lower DD will leave me with a shortfall of £330 after 12 months!!0 -
Can you just confirm one thing for me you moved from one Scottish Power product to another. When you moved tariff they sent you a final bill for your old tariff and a new bill for your new tariff?
I only question this as I’ve never seen a tariff change be split across 2 bills (I’ve never been with SP though), you usually see the old tariff and then new tariff on the same bill as the total bill covers a period either side of the change.
Only thing I can think of is the final reading was an estimate and the new reading was an actual. If this is the case then they should cancel and re-bill anything based on the estimated reading. However you may not see a new bill, you may just see a line item on your new bill rebating the difference. Is there an unusual charge or discount on the bill that shows the new read?0 -

Who are you asking? I suggest you make this clear, either by giving a name, rather than "you" and/or including a quote. I think that I'm the only recent correspondent talking of a tariff change - but only you can be sure who you meant to address.0 -
The OP obviously, who else would it be addressing?0

I still think the Sumalian pirate apprentice work placement idea fits the profile. £1,708.36 is day light robbery.0 -
