Santander Credit card

Would anyone know why Santander have turned me down for the 123 CC when I have an account with them and my credit rating was fine 2 months ago to buy a house and thus a mortgage?

Quite possibly because you've got a mortgage in the last two months, so increased credit, recent change of address and so on.
  • That's a nightmare. Is there anything I can do about this?

Give it a few months, make sure you're on the elctoral roll, then try again.

Any reason why you're so desperate for it?

Presumably OP wants to start raking in the cashback.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Maybe. But 'a nightmare' would be a bit of an over reaction in that case.

'Pain in the !!!!' would be the better expression, but I understand OP's reasoning.

  • Ah well not bother applying for credit card then I'm in same position wanting credit card as just moved but looks unlikely I will achieve this without being on electoral roll yet pain in bum !
