either that or somebody in Tesco's had a :idea: moment when it dawned on them why they have so many clients that have active accounts but don't seem to have any money .

No. Only 4 direct debits on a single Tesco account.

I can't find any reference to a limit in their Ts & Cs, which simply state "Please note that you can set up more than one Linked Account" at http://www.tescobank.com/assets/sections/savings/pdf/tesco-internet-saver-terms-and-conditions.pdf

I haven't suggested that there is a limit, and I'm pleased to see that they explicitly permit more than one linked account.

I was just reporting that, back in 2012, the creation of several linked accounts aroused the suspicions of Tesco's fraud prevention people, for me and also for at least one other poster.

Perhaps the fraud team are now more familiar with the reasons for these linked accounts paying £1/month to Halifax/Lloyds etc, and no longer regard them as suspicious
