This sounds serious. Is the whole chain in trouble? And what does the letter say?
Can anyone who knows give me a call?

Yes the whole chain is in trouble. I belive there is 7 left and i hear there being converted by coscutter later in the year. I aint totally sure about them being converted. But people dont get your hopes up about them staying open. Ours was one of the good ones. Had a great meat counter and good fruit and veg.
The letter basically tells you how long you worked there. And how much your gonna get in redundency. Tells you the date when it closes and your ment to get 2 weeks wages also.
I got informed by our ex store manager that give them till 2moro. If it aint there by 2moro then long court battle again for the cash i guess.
Dont mean to alarm any one here. If the rumours are true the remaining 7 will convert. But i cant trust any info i hear now.
This is how they work. They took on so many around august time september time. And basically they was on a 6 month trail. If they did not perforum gone. My advice if you aint worked there long get out asap cause your gonna get nothing. If you been there lets say 10 years you can get up to 5k or more.
Its bad news but cant say it surprises me.0 -
Can I just ask which store did you work at? As that happened to the store I used to work at a few weeks back. Also we had to spend our last 2 weeks there clearing the shop out before we were made redundant. So if this is the case, where we don't get our money, we've been made to work for absolutely nothing0

I would have thought that it's The Grocer's job to report this kind of news, rather than the other way round!chloe_smith wrote: »This sounds serious. Is the whole chain in trouble? And what does the letter say?

I worked for store 5245 alfreton derbyshire. Well i got told to wait untill today to see if the money had gone in. It has not but my deputy manager just txt me with some news. We are geting paided via chaps which takes longer to go in. If the money aint gone in to the account by 2night. Then i have a number to call.
I will call people who need to know stuff but not this week. I am very busy moving house lol.0 -

you are quite right it's our job to report this kind of news, but we need to speak to people who work there to get our stories and sometimes that means via forums like this! thanks for all the info - a report will be in tomorrow's issue

Just an update know i have got a few mins. As in my other post about redundency money. I said wait till end of day and call this number i got txted. I asked when was the best time to call them. I got told monday. Hour later the news i knew all along. Were gonna get forms through the post next few days basically claiming our redundency money via the goverment. My ex deputy was on the phone to some one incharge of administration. So basically the last 2 weeks before we closed we worked for free. TOTALY UNEXCEPTABLE.
I kinda knew they would of never paid us at the end of the month. That all seemed so easy. My guess is geting via goverment will take 6 weeks or more. And probley get less. I am totally annoyed.0 -
As what my ex deputy said yesturday. The claim forms have arrived. Came this morning.
Looks like the whole company is going asap. As it says on the letter fressxpress limited in administration.0 -
