Just pay it and stop moaning;)

It is the old adage with computers - 'rubbish in = rubbish out'

I suspect there was an estimated reading somewhere on your account and the computer 'thought' you had used a huge amount in a short period; and uses that figure to estimate an annual consumption.

Given the way the utility companies operate these days, he may have to!

I phoned up, the woman said throw it away. She said it comes from a different dept than billing, the rest of my bill is correct so I have no idea where they get their figures from. Just thought that there may well be others that they have made the same mistake with too.

My summary a couple of years ago said I would be using £49,000 of energy in the next year. I use approx £650-£700 / year.
Predicted was 101,489 for electricity and 1,139,268 for gas.

On the upside, they predicted a £2999 discount for direct debit payment :-)

Link to the actual bill is http://i57.tinypic.com/207b7sy.png

As I said, the previous 3 years were under £700 / year so their billing computer is *appalling* :-)

A £3,000 discount is pretty good though!

On a slightly different tack, I returned some wrong building material for exchange to the local store(cost about £15). They had to give me a visa credit and then re-charge a different amount to my card.

I have the credit slip for £217,927.82 which sadly wasn't honoured.
