Hello, thank you emmaglet for running the thread, thank you Aesop for running it before, just wanted to post my total from 12 months of benefiting from the support, encouragement and tips of all the lovely people here -- £8,973.51.
That's £747.99 a month.
I joined the thread because I was raising money to go to Africa to help a children's charity, I sold books, held car boot sales, started listing on eBay, emptied my loft and started flogging stuff from there, I appealed for clothes people didn't want and sold them, cash for clothes was a 3rd option after eBay and car boot.
I started mystery shopping, used Webuybooks and Ziffit, signed up to Pinecone, YouGov, Qmee and Roamler, counted mileage claims, asked for cash or vouchers for anyone kind enough to give me a present on my birthday or at Xmas. I cut down on electricity and gas use to the point I got a £350 rebate. I opened a Santander 123 account for the cashback, downgraded my Lloyds packaged account to save £25 a month and get interest/cashback. I even 'wombled' receipts now and again and got £10 from an Asda price match.
I haven't counted savings on shopping etc in this total but ramped up nectar points through adpoints, search and eshops, renewed insurances etc through Top Cashback.
I wasn't in debt when I started the challenge but I'm self employed and couldn't pay myself for 6 months around joining in as I'd missed a lot of work time through grief after losing my husband. Despite this the money raised alongside my usual income has helped us no end -- we had a lovely cheap and cheerful holiday in Portugal -- booked through TCB -- worked out at £6.50 a night each!
Anyway there you go -- thank you very, very much! This thread has really helped me.
This month I'd like to go for £5 a day please, I still have stuff to sell. I know I will be paying some tax on the amount above but I need to work it out after expenses for mystery shopping.
Thanks a million.0 -

Fantastic Mrs C. warms the cockles of your heart reading that.
And just shows it can be done, if you put your mind to it. Not necessarily that amazing amount but still a good £300 a month.
Good luck to everyone on the challenge this month, you can all do it! :money::beer::j:T0
