Hi,

I have been using Vauxhall Vectra 1999 for 6 years now. Hasn't given any bigger problems so far.

I am planning to change/upgrade to a newer car.

Now, I got two cars of choice to select.

1. Vauxhall Vectra 2008 - 1.8v - 23000 Miles from Vauxhall itself - 12month warranty
2. Honda Accord 2007 - 2.0 - 60000 Miles from 3rd party dealer - 3 month warranty.

Accord is £1000 more than Vectra. Both has another 50000 miles for cambelt change.

I may use for another 4-5 years before change.

any recommendations?

The second generation Vectra is a decent enough car, though some of the trim has all the quality of styrofoam. Should be reliable enough though, and in the event of a problem, would be far cheaper to fix than the Honda

The Honda is much more of a quality product, a much nicer place to park your bum, is supremely comfortable and mechanically pretty much bulletproof, and is the one I'd have out of the two.

Had both as company cars a few years ago....

Mondeo... Better drive and cheaper. Cheap to fix also.

Vectra has hard seats. And it's a Vectra.

No one ever bought Vectra's - they were given them by their fleet manager.

How about moneysaving option 3, keep the reliable Vectra until a big bill comes up? As a trade-in it has no real value now.

It has come, that is another reason I am upgrading now.

ABS Bump broken and garage gave me estimation of £450 for parts and £500 for labour.

I do feel it is not worthy to spend another £1000 such an old car and already 140K miles.

140k miles it should still be purring and ready to do at least half that again. Double that if its diesel.
