Renting with Pets - 'Pet Addendum'

That may be best, if it can be resolved amicably that would be good for everyone.
Consider popping into their office for a chat about it rather than just emailing "i disagree with section x". Might lead to a bit more understanding on their behalf.
Although expect that it might be like talking to a brick wall. The agents generally used pre set terms and might not have the authority to change them, in which case try and talk to a higher up.*Assuming you're in England or Wales.0 -
Done!
Kudos Greenslade Taylor-Hunt; to be fair, they have been very accommodating throughout the entire process.
They are resending an amended contract detailing that the professional cleaning receipt merely requires a "pet cleaned" service which is about £10 extra.
So I saved ~£65-£110. Does that make me a Money Saving Expert now?
Moral of the story; frank dialogue with the LA is a grand idea.
(Where are my manners, thank-you everyone for your input!)0 -
As jjlandlord has pointed out, as you already have permission from the landlord and the tenancy has started as per the signed tenancy agreement, you are under no obligation to agree to any further stipulations.
The tenancy hasn't started; they don't take occupation until 28 June.
I am not 100% if they have a contract yet either, given we have no evidence that the LL or their agent has countersigned the tenancy.0 -

Reading the OP is overrated =P*Assuming you're in England or Wales.0 -
I always post this on these threads but I moved into a flat that previously had cats, the whole place stunk of wet fur and cat wee and there was hair everywhere including behind radiators etc. there was also a flea issue.
Some of the cleaning contracts may seem a bit excessive but I can assure you they are not.0 -

Considering what OP has said there seem little doubt that there is a contract.0 -

The issue we take with this is that it is mandatory and it won't be necessary. We are responsible pet owners and it won't ever come to the reprehensible condition you described above.0 -
We allow pets in our rental property, on the condition that a pet deposit is paid and all carpets are professionally cleaned, all traces are removed (such as hair) and measures to ensure there aren't any fleas in the property. I think it's quite reasonable, after all, who would want to live in a property full of animal hair or discover a flea problem when eggs hatch in the warmer months.
You need to get full written permission from the landlord and his/her exact terms concerning your cat.
As a pet owner I'm well aware that no matter how much you clean or how clean your animal is, your home does have smell of cat, dog whatever, so as a landlord you have to ensure those smells aren't inherited by the next tenant.0 -
Of course you think it's reasonable, you don't have to pay any of the cost.
It is nonetheless academic as GTH understand our issue and have amended the contract.0
