I have opened an ISA for the first time and I am determined to put as much money into this as I can, ideally I would like to go on a road trip across the USA for a couple of months.. this will be very expensive so I need to get saving! I don't have very much spare money with mortgage, kids, bills.... I have been lurking here for years following hints and tips and now it is time for my diary, just to keep me focused and motivated as I find when I am reading diaries I save more and scrimp just a wee bit harder!! I will add a signature with my current total, which is only about £100, but as I said, I don't have much to save but determined to build up the pot

Thanks Lozzy81!
I have checked my ISA and today I have £111.87.... hardly mega bucks but it is a start!! Tonight I am going to get a realistic idea of a USA road trip cost and set myself some goals so I can save a bit more money! I plan on having a no spend June, other than money already set aside for the food budget... nothing will be spent... fingers crossed I can manage 30 days! even 20 would be a massive achievement for me! lets see how I get on!USA ROAD TRIP FUND £180.880 -
Good luck with your savings plan
I too am saving for a trip to the states, though to the sunshine state for two weeks next year
that's my interim target and then a bigger target of about 25,000 for a deposit on a holiday home at the coast
anyhoo I look forward to following your progress.

Hey empty, where do you plan to visit? I am thinking about the west coast and some national parks, hopefully in an rv! I would love to move over there
Today I put another £4.50 into my isa so its now at £119.37! still so low... but going up, I now have 2 no spend days and plan on that being the case all through June apart from the food budget but that is already withdrawn from the bank, couple of weeks till payday but if my calculations are correct I should end up with £87 left on payday to go into my savingsUSA ROAD TRIP FUND £180.880 -
Hi chillip1e
Next year we, DH and our two teenage boys are doing good old Orlando and all that entailshowever DH and I are planning on a road trip for several weeks ( I work in education and very fortunate with long summer holidays!) when our children have flown the nest! For our road trip we too are looking at an rv or Billy Connolly style on a motorbike
Well done for topping up your ISAI must do a budget today! I'm hopeless when it comes to groceries etc but determined to save, save and achieve my dreams- going to also create a shaving diary to help.

Hello every body!! well my pot is now up to £180.88.... may not seem like alot just now but it is slowly building, and one day when there are no childcare costs.... hoping after Christmas! that will be freeing £184 a month which i will save into the isa, i find having the savings account with another bank, with a one way transfer much easier to leave alone, also putting in £1 or £2 at a time, plus any odd pennies from account much easier to save and not dip into, looking at ways to save on food is my main focus as i have shaved everything possible!! :rotfl:USA ROAD TRIP FUND £180.880

I used to run a not at all serious online walking group and we did virtual walks ( added all the steps up and converted them to miles) in various countries, posting pics of our route as wel walked up the coast. West coast of America was fabulous, as was the East coast in all fairness. I'd love to see it in real life.
