Yes she did tell them, but they said it was for their information not hers.
It could be the JC, income support claimants have to go in for interviews every couple of months. It's 6 months if they are also claiming CA and apparently 2 months for all other claimants.0 -
The ex wouldn't have any contact with her. The DWP would pass the details onto CSA to chase maintenance etc or make deductions from any benefits and pass it on to her.
If he is able to pay maintenance without risk, why shouldn't he?
Why should she rely on the tax payer to make his payments and support his child?
The DWP don't pass any details onto the CSA....this practice was stopped years ago...
When DV is involved there is always a risk of further violence when CSA is involved.. just the action of asking for support for a child can cause a violent relationship to escalate.
She just needs to stand her ground and ask to speak to a manager if this advisor continues to push for the name0 -
Just to clarify too.
There used to be a phrase on the birth cert. that said 'father unknown' this does not happen now.
The space where father's name is requested is left blank.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

If this is not true, though, she is committing fraud.
As above, she does not need to have contact with him, but if he's able to pay maintenance, he needs to d so, it's not going to be an acceptable outcome for her to choose to ask the state to pay, if the father is able to.0 -

She isn't choosing the state to pay. She is choosing to have less money. The state would pay her anyway regardless of the level of maintanance her ex pays. She could receive £10k a month in child maintanance and not have to declare it.0 -
Whilst I can understand posters here not knowing that child support is ignored in benefit claims (and has done for several years)-I find it incredible that a JC or DWP employee doesn't knowI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

It's not fraud...
The money she recieves in benefits is in no way affected by any child support she may or may not recieve.0 -
Just tell them she was at a party, had too much to drink, had sex and hasn't got a clue who the father is.
What they might think is irrelevant.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

A father's contribution will not lessen what the state will give her at all.
From a taxpayer point of view, it is no difference whether she names the father or not.
