Hi all, on hearing about the fact i could reclaim my bank charges via this site i mentioned it whilst on the phone to a halifax operator, she told me yes we can send you the statements you need and i said great, but dosent that mean i have to pay £10? she then told me i didnt have to pay that and i would recieve the statements in 4 weeks. i have just recieved a letter and all it has is a list of the charges with dates, my roll and branch number etc, some sort of computer print off?
i have now worked it all out and am now ready to send my claim letter and wonderd if it would get knocked back if i send just this sheet? (a copy of) or do i need the proper statements highlighted? on one hand it looks like they have done all the work for me, but on the other i didnt pay the £10 and get my full statements like most have done.
if this is the case then ive been given the run around!, i did specificly ask for my statements and waited the 4 weeks just to get this letter? i hope i dont have to apply for my statements again! and to be honest this means they havent abided by the rules by sending me what they have!
hope someone can help
cheers

Hey Gaz,
Enter the charges and dates into the calculator on the main site. This'll then give you total charges and interest you can claim if you wish. You can then print it off and send it with your first letter and you may feel you,ve justified yourself for not being charged that tenner.
Good luck.

If you specifically requested the statements and not a list of your charges, you are VERY lucky not to have paid anything for it, as banks can charge about a fiver per statement! If you read Martin's template letter for a SAR request, then you will note that it says "I am writing to request a fully comprehensive list of all the default charges for direct debit, unauthorised overdrafts and standing orders I have paid over the last six years. Please find enclosed a cheque for the maximum statutory charge of £10. If you are unable to provide this data, I will accept a copy of my statements going back six years; I understand that statements on their own are not covered by the Data Protection Act 1998, yet I’m not requesting the statements per se, but the charges, which I’m entitled to by law." Most banks just send statements because that is easier.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH0 -
