Sorry no pictures but I came home yesterday with my brand new Trail hound boy....... 500 miles in 52 hours! I had the choice of 4 dogs and he was the last to be seen... stunning with big brown eyes. He looks very similar to the real Katiehound who was my loveliest dog ever but with less white on face and chest. It was a real serendipity moment as the owner had only phoned in to register him for rehoming whilst I was driving over the A66. One of my friend says that it was meant to be!! Maybe I have another PAT dog? who knows!

He's 2 years old, very calm (vital after my old boy who was hard work) Yesterday before leaving Cumbria went into Vets4Pets in Pets at Home... we were waiting on the doorstep for them to open!!.... and got him micro chipped for free and booster for £15. He walked into shop fine, up in the lift, stood at reception accepted fuss , praise and 2 needles calmly and I'd had him , what 17 hours! Now we are home he's booked in for the snip at my own vet a week today and I am now working on the house training aspect. He's a bright boy so hopefully that won't take too long.

a very special day for you both! he sounds amazing and I cant wait to see pics.
your Katie was something special too - and a very lovely girl! beautiful kind eyes (that's my highest accolade for an animal - you can read their soul from their eyes).
I do wish you many years of happiness together - and I feel that he will be just as special and talented as Katie - but in his own unique way!0 -
2 calm nights so far! He's in an enormous borrowed crate, Shyla is on her bed and I am sleeping on the settee (coverts to bed) for the next 10 days whilst we crack on with house training....and then the snip next week!
Thank you for your kind messages; as a friend pointed out Shay is likely to be my last dog so I want to really enjoy him.
It's so strange to walk down the street with a dog who doesn't bark at every other dog. Bliss. We shall be at dog training on Monday....I think he will be nervous going in. Other than that he is on the ball. I gave them both a hide cigar chew yesterday. He didn't know what it was but watched Shyla throwing hers in the air, playing with it and finally munching it, so that's what he decided to do.
Oh, and he has those big brown eyes too.
Now that it has stopped raining!!! I have taken some photos which will hopefully be up on the THwelfare website by the end of next week. I think I have one good photo out of 20....an awful lot of bottoms, bottom sniffing and quarter of a dog or dog just dashing out of the frame!! Clearly he doesn't like his photo being taken but in all other respects he seems to be settling in well.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

and now, at last, here is a picture for you!

If you scroll down you can read a little more about him.
He seems to have fully recovered from the "bits off" operation last Thursday, in fact by Friday morning you wouldn't have thought he had had an anaesthetic. I am hoping to let him run tomorrow- but first a quick check at the vet's to ensure the scar has healed sufficiently.
Today Shay & Shyla were trying to play fight- gap too narrow indoors- they need to let off steam!
House training is still the main thing- not quite cracked the "wee a day" thing!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
