Bedroom wardrobes

Hello,

We're wanting to cover the long wall in our bedroom with floor to ceiling wardrobes, with a space in the middle for the bed.

I've looked at Ikea PAX wardrobes and really like the different combinations of fittings etc. (spent ridiculous amount of time playing with their online design a wardrobe tool)

However I was surprised that Ikea don't seem to do any sort of bridging unit/overbed unit/surround.

The aim is to cover the wall as much as possible, for the storage space, but also to try and combat the noise from the neighbours bedroom next door.

I've tried looking online for overbed units, overbed storage, wardrobe bridging units etc. seem to me an endless number of names for the darn things. Have found some but very limited in number, and all too wide. Wanting two wardrobes either side 1m wide each, leaves about 2.3m probably slightly less, and all the ones I've seen are over 2.4m.

So it's looking like we might need to have one made to measure. Anyone seen anywhere online that supplies overbed units?

Unsure whether to get the wardrobes then get someone to build a unit to fill the gap in between, with matching doors as much as possible, or just get the whole thing done wardrobes and unit by fitted bedroom company.

The in store room displays in ikea have bridging units. I think they use shelves, end panels, or low cupboards which can be wall mounted.
  • Hi Ian

Myself and my husband run a company where we still get asked for over bed storage finished in vinyl wrapped MDF.

We are based in Basingstoke and cover 40 mile radius.

The company name is Harmony Made to Measure Furniture.

Please shout if you have any queries which we would be happy to help with. No obligation!

    Lorraine :)
