This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All
Hugs to Molly & Hilly, Candlelight I'll be thinking of you. LW I hope it isn't long 'til you get another furry visitor.
DGS stayed last night, SIL is collecting him this morning, 2 other DGC's are staying tonight whilst DD1 & her hubby go out.
I need to collect a prescription today, do some bank transfers, worry about MIL & do more sewing, thank you for all the good wishes for her I will pass them on.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Well it is still raining, will it ever stop?
Hilly thinking of you today I hope your cough and cold are a bit better.
Thank you all for your good wishes.
Well a busy day today. We have to pick up our prescriptions and then go over to DD to take her to GP for sick note, we will have lunch here, she fancies fish and chips, and then take her for her appointment with the Surgeon who operated on her leg.
His clinic is always so busy, so we will drop her off at the hospital and then go to her flat so I can change her bed linen and remake the bed. She will 'phone us when she is done. It could be one hour or three hours, and it is a long time to be there hanging around and her flat is near to the hospital. Hopefully the x ray will show the bone is healing well now.
Have a bag full of stuff to take to the Hospice shop whilst we are picking up our prescriptions.
Have a good day everyone and I hope some of you have sunshine, I can't remember what that looks like.
Hugs Hilly

Morning All
Although it's grey and damp this morning we have actually had quite nice weather for a change. Washing dried on the line again yesterday and it didn't go out till 4. Also managed to get the grass cut.
hilstep - Wishing you well for your treatment.
Candlelight - Hugs to you and fingers crossed for next week.
Spent yesterday morning outside yesterday, a half hour walk to the hockey festival, 2 hours stood outside watching and then a half hour walk back so I was quite 'fresh aired' yesterday! DS2 cooked sausage and bean casserole for tea which was lovely but gave me wind later on!
Same old routine today, builders should nearly finish the back of the roof. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Another damp grey day here Lets hope it brightens up later in the week. I am off to work today which is probably going to be busy as its half term here.
Gammon egg and chips for dinner nice and quick once I get in, I have my shopping being delivered too.
Hilstep I shall be thinking of you today xx
Candle light fingers crossed for you xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone, dull here but not raining today, forecast is for it to stay dry too so the lurcha will be happy not getting soaked on his walkies.
I've been harvesting veg and fruit this morning as He Who Knows is meeting DD1 so she's got 2 very large globe artichokes, a big bag of peas from the polytunnel, the first 3 courgettes from the plant in the poly and a big picking of ripe strawberries from the bed in the garden and I've got wet feet!!!
Hope all is well with everyone and thier loved ones HILSTEP will be thinking of you today and hoping it's not too awful for you. MOLLY hope it's all settled down with mum and that things are smoother for you love.
Have a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Just a quick one before I go off to Kings. Thanks for your support, it's much appreciated. Found out via Facebook this morning that one of my "old" girl guides who is a lovely girl, aged 29 and the mother of a one year old has breast cancer. I felt awful for her, I know I'm not young, but she's even younger. Cancer has no scruples:eek:
Anyway, I'm off, will try and catch up with you all tomorrow. xI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, very wet underfoot and is still now raining – it just doesn’t seem like it’s going to stop – I was hoping to get some washing on the line today – I will be using the TD as we’re now starting to run out of clothes!
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.
Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, new potatoes and veg – all eaten and enjoyed – the menfolk had the dumplings with theirs I just had the stew with pots and veg. I love dumplings but my waistline doesn’t! I’ve got some fish out to defrost for my dinner tonight, menfolk will have fish too – they will have chips and beans with theirs and I’ll have jacket potato and veg. I’ve been checking the cupboards, fridge and freezer and writing a shopping list ready for tomorrow – seem to have run out of lots of things all at the same time! Will try today to find time to write a menu plan as I need to try to cut down on the grocery spend.
I have an errand to run this morning, and on the way back I’ll stop off at the SM as I need to buy milk and chips for tonight’s dinner.
Work wasn’t as busy yesterday so managed to catch up with emails etc.
I got the normal chores done yesterday after several telephone calls, time spent on the pc etc. I noticed when checking my banking yesterday morning that the Direct Debit for my car insurance was showing as cancelled on the dd list – and I hadn’t cancelled it – so I rang the insurance company who said they hadn’t requested it to be cancelled and neither had I – so in their words – “it must be the banks fault.” Prior to this a couple of weeks ago they took 2 direct debits 3 days apart for my car insurance policy – 1 being the first instalment of the renewal and the other being the policy from last year – I’d rang to query the renewal premium and they did a better quote so accepted it and expected that as in previous years the dd amount would be adjusted and it would be no problem – as I spoke to the advisor I wasn’t 100% convinced that I was actually going to be insured so I asked how much it would cost to pay it straight off in 1 lump sum and it wasn’t too bad so paid straight away on my credit card – not really what I wanted to do but I use my car a lot and can’t be doing with all the hassle – I will pay it straight off my cc next week. The insurance company have already sent me a refund of 1 dd – so I think they cancelled it, at least it appears to be sorted now.
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
Thinking of you and your MIL Hester xx
Good luck hilstep xx
We had rain yesterday so I stayed indoors. I even put the dryer on  I had to, I had a load of wet towels. I moaned about that all day
It's still raining, looks like it going to keep going all day.
I went down the garden yesterday, just to check whether the broad beans needed tying up again. I spotted a few pods, I was most excited
And there was a lot of noise coming from the willow tree – we have nesting coal tits
I was staring at my yarn yesterday, I got some of it organised after thinking "wonder what Jackie would do with this lot?" lol. I started a new baby blanket last night, I'll get that finished today and try to get some decent photos taken so I can put it up for sale. It's very dull here, the light is awful so I'm not too hopeful.

Good Mornin all, grey again here in Kent at the moment
nmlc Good job you checked you bandk statement its sometimes so easy for payments to slip through. Then you have the hassle and your own expense phone calls etc of sorting it out Grrr when its not your fault I get so mad with large companies when they do this.My eldest DD is great she whips off a very indignat letter as soon as she can and usually gets not only refunded but an apology and even many times a small payment of compensation
:):)
Well today I am off out to buy my youngest DGS Mikey his birthday present. He wants an electonic Monopoly set !!!! but if thats what he wants who am I to argue. I also have to buy a couple of birthday cards as its DGS Mikeys birthday on Sunday (10) and DGS Henry's birthday on Tuesday (13) In time my DD will have a 21st and an 18th only a couple of days apart !!! that will be an expensive year
:):)
Henry is easier to get as he is at an age when hard cash is liked more than toys and he can then go and buy himself something nice with his stash
:)
Right time for some tea I think .
Hope your chemo goes OK today Hilly If you've not had it before its really not as scary as you think, just take lots to read with you
Cheers chums onwards and upwards
