I applied for DLA before it became PIP and after 15 months, I finally got my tribunal and won it on Tuesday. I have been put on lower rate mobility and lower rate Daily living component indefinitely. But, I have some questions:

1. Because I am already claiming ESA, do I need to phone the DWP and tell them?

2. It says online that, all people who have been placed on DLA indefinitely, will be contacted around October 2015. Will I be exempt from that?

3. If in future, (I dont know if it will ever happen but you never know) the government decides to put all the people from the past claiming DLA onto PIP, would I lose my lower rate Daily living component? As PIP does not have a lower rate for Daily living component

Thanks

No such thing as an indefinite award - it will be reviewed sometime after Oct 2015. Who knows you may be worse by then & need more help.
If you are of working age - then yes you will be moved over to PIP eventually. Unless you are near retiring ATM.
Although there is no low rate there a standard & high rate for which you need to score a certain amount of points just like with ESA.

Er, there is. My DLA award is indefinite.

You won't be exempt from being contacted around October 2015. Although, I think it's a case of they're going to start contacting people from then, so you may be contacted later.

The criteria for PIP is different to DLA; so being on the lower rate of care won't necessarily mean you won't get PIP.

They were called indefinite awards, but this can be a bit misleading as DWP were always entitled to review the claim if they wished.

But what I believe horseunderwater means is that it's not indefinite in the sense that the OP (and everyone claiming DLA) will be transferred to PIP, so the claim will be reviewed after October 2015. As you've said, PIP has slightly different criteria to DLA also.
  • Do I need to go and phone the DWP and tell them I am now receiving DLA?

Wouldn't think so since it is DWP who pay it.
And what I meant about indefinite awards was that it will get reviewed sometime after Oct 2015 so it is not indefinite in that sense.

I had a "life" award that was changed to indefinite, some years ago, when they changed it, and the DWP could review it, at any time.

Now, all awards (allegedly) are going to be reviewed, from 2015, and migrated (or not) to PIP and the longest award I have heard of is 10 years for new claims, assessed under PIP rules.

However, it appears PIP is sliding ever further into chaos, so people may not be contacted for quite a while.....

I called the DWP up this morning. The woman asked me when I had my tribunal and won it. I told her last Tuesday, and she asked when I recieved my letter. I told her that, I was giving a letter at the end of the hearing and that it said indefinite time on it, but I have not recieved anything else in the post . She then thanked me for calling and said that, she will need to get my details updated as, there is absolutely nothing on my file about winning my DLA appeal and she said that it was strange cos, even if they were going to contest it, it would have something on my file. Strange

P.S I asked about the backdated money. i asked if it takes 3-4 weeks. she said it takes 2+weeks. 2 weeks sounds a little quick???

i asked for a reconsideration, and was awarded a higher rate of DLA.

Mine took about 7 weeks. But the tribunal had made a mistake (which I hadn't seen) and had to write to DWP to rectify it.

Hi there. Sorry but, what does "reconsideration" mean? I just find it strange that, if I had not called them, they would not have known I had won my DLA. As everybody has been telling me that the DWP would know all about my DLA
