Finding out contents of a Will
Comments

He might have wanted your wife's details because she was a back-up beneficiary - ie she would inherit if his wife predeceased him, or if she didn't survive him by more than 28 days. If the estate was not large it is most likely he would have left it all to his wife in the first instance, as otherwise she might struggle for money. Presumably you would do the same if you were married with no children, rather than leaving some outside the family.
Does your wife not enjoy a good relationship with her aunt? Can she not ask (tactfully) about the will? Why does she feel she won't stand to inherit anything at all when the aunt dies?0 -
The wills were probably written 'to my spouse...and if my spouse has predeceased then to... ' So unless the wife changes the will, she will probably inherit.
But as I and others point out, it's worth checking uncle's will at the probate registry. And if everything has been left to aunty, best be nice to aunty!Public wealth warning! It's not compulsory for solicitors or Willwriters to pass an exam in writing Wills - probably the most important thing you’ll ever sign.

This happened to my friend , her father left everything to his second wife and she in turn left everything to her children, my friend and her sister got nothing.
I don't know if there is anything you can do, but I wouldn't have thought so unless your children are financially dependent on him (although in Spain and I believe also in France you are not allowed to disinherit your children, I don't think such a law applies in the UK).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
