Campervan Breakdown Insurance
Comments

I'm with RAC who have a scheme for members of the Camping & Caravanning Club, also covers me around mainland Europe and includes whatever I'm towing with the 'van too. Full roadside & recovery, also covers any other car I drive, also covers my wife, and sons too, if the latter happen to be living with us at the time. Not cheap but worth it IMO.

As above C&CC use the RAC arrival scheme. Caravan Club use Green Flag.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

If it's less than 10m long, 3.2m high and 7.5 tons then ADAC cover it on their standard policy.
It's about £100 a year and is Europe wide. There are also lots of other benefits that make AA/RAC etc look pathetic
To give an idea, these are the headings from the benefits section of the documentation.....
Person-related assistance (world wide cover)
Medical repatriation in the event of acute and unexpected illness/injury
Accommodation costs in the event of illness or injury
Hospital visit
Escort service for children
Premature return
Assistance in special emergencies
Repatriation of pets
Dispatch of medication and spectacles abroad
Assistance following the loss of travel documents abroad
Interpreter service abroad
Vehicle-related assistance (Europe wide cover)
Vehicle recovery, if driver is unfit to drive
Breakdown and accident assistance
Assistance with lost or defective car keys
Accommodation costs following immobilisation of your vehicle
Transfers following immobilisation of vehicle
Travel expenses following immobilisation of vehicle
Vehicle recovery including off road
The £100 policy covers you and spouse and any vehicle you own. It also covers vehicles you don't own but are driving0 -

Thanks Vaio. I have just looked them up, seems they are German, is this the same one you have mentioned?0 -
Another happy ADAC customer here. They're the _only_ lot we could find who would cover our 20+yo VW camper for extended European travels - and much cheaper than the AA/RAC ask for just UK.0
-
Yep, they are German. In the UK they use the AA to provide their service (ironically to a higher & wider standard than AA members get, ADAC cover accidents & off road recovery etc too)
You can join by phone, post or fax or email.

I think it's a bank holiday in Germany today so membership lines might not be open0 -
Recovery is limited by cost, and with attempt local repair first. Still a good deal though.0
-
Limits are 200 euro for roadside assistance, another 200 for towing, another 200 for transporting animals & luggage if they can't go with the vehicle and if you manage to end up off road or in a field then all costs to get you back on road are covered and then the limits above take over.
Cover applies no matter why your car can't be used, breakdown, lost keys, crash, stolen etc
If your car can't be repaired immediately they'll put you up in an hotel & pay for up to a week of hire car or train tickets so you can carry on your journey
If I take ill/get injured away from home and so can't drive they'll send a driver to drive my car & family home.
With or without a car if I take ill/get injured away from home and end up in hospital they'll put my family up in a hotel for three nights.
If I'm stuck in hospital for more than two weeks they'll give 500 euro for family/friends to visit.
If I need medical repatriation they'll bring me back from anywhere in the world and organise an escort to bring my kids home.
If my mother dies whist I'm away they'll pay up to 2,600 euro for me to come home early and bring my car home from anywhere in Europe
All of this and more for less than £100 a year for a family membership.
As above, it makes the AA/RAC look a bit pathetic but I suppose that's the difference between a profit driven organisation and one which exists to look after their members0 -
Autoaid covers smaller motor homes0
