ncd when I cancelled insurance

Hi I would have had 3 years ncd in august when I renewed

But I had to cancel my policy this week due to selling vehicle and not being able to put another car on the policy within 7 days

So if I take a policy out in June with the same or different insurer, and August arrives, will I be on 3 years ncd?

Seems harsh if I voluntarily sell a vehicle and get penalised a ncd year if that's the case?

Thanks

    No

If you take out a policy in June then if you keep it till next June you will have 3 years NCD at renewal in June 2015 (assuming a claim free year on the same policy)

    You aren't being penalised.

You only get awarded a year's ncd by an insurer for completing the year with that insurer.
