Advice needed re a new-ish dripping tap..

Hi. We had builders in our house to knock a wall down and fit a new kitchen and all the work is under guarentee.

We bought the taps separately from B&Q (£25) which the builders fitted.in November. The hot tap has started to drip today.

I'm not a plumber and even changing a washer would be beyond us to do. I rang B&Q to ask their advice and they said we could exchange the taps if they are faulty but as the drip is coming from where the water normally comes out of the tap B&Q insist this is usually a problem with water pressure being too high for the taps and the builder should have picked this up?

I just wondered what any good plumbers on here could advise. I want to get some advice before I go back to our builder and I don't want to be arguing with B&Q and our builder not knowing who is right (as I just want my tap fixed and I don't want to pay for the plumbing as it's either b&Q or the builder to do this)

Thank you for any advice given.

Back to basics: what sort of hot water system do you have and did you buy taps suitable for that system (high or low pressure)? If the tap is leaking past the valve then it's unlikely to be the fault of the plumber.
If the tap is faulty, then B&Q will replace them. They won't pay for the reinstall, and neither will your plumber.

At the end of the day you bought the taps so it is your job to make sure they are suitable and not the plumbers.

If the plumber supplied them then he should offer a guarantee on it, but due to the fact you bought them he doesn't have to.
