British Gas Energy Saving Survey

Hey

I have booked one of these for next month.

Our house MIGHT have cavity wall insulation down the side. And our loft has some fibreglass insulation, but our survey recommended thicker.

Would BG upgrade the current loft insulation and install cavity wall insulation at the front and back of our house?

Thanks

Mark

    Not sure

However I believe current standards for loft insulation is 270mm in depth

    Our survey said:

"The thermal insulation in the roof space has been improved but you should
consider increasing the insulation thickness to at least 280mm."

  • Is this just a Green deal assessment or epc?

If you don't have insulation fitted already or have minimal insulation yes you should be able to get them to top it up for you.

I don't think it's green deal. It was sent in an email fro. MSE a few weeks ago. No benefits needed.

  • Yea it'll be a green deal assessment for ECO, no benefits needed .
You should be able to get loft and cavity wall insulation free of charge if your not having much luck with British gas another company will be able to help you out just look for local insulation installers.

What I don't understand about cavity insulation - surely it defeats all the measures taken to avoid bridging of water from the exterior wall to the inner?

Done correctly with the correct materials this is not an issue, but many people do share your concerns when considering cavity wall insulation.
