....and on particularly busy/dangerous roads my dear, we put pedestrian crossings/traffic control measures in place to protect the public!

We don't take the "Who gives a toss? Leave it up to parents to show their kids how to cross the road" attitude.

Parents can do a good job in trying to educate kids about all sorts of risks in life.....but that doesn't stop us as a society from still implementing additional measures to protect people of ALL ages....

I think, perhaps, it might be an idea for schools, in the latter years, do something with kids about finance, as they used to do it when my kids were at school, but seem to have stopped now.

Debt stress should never be underestimated - it can cause family breakdown (expensive for society) and suicides, and while we all know what parents should do, many don't and it is important that people steer clear of these payday loans etc.,

Meanwhile, these odious companies should be banned from pushing their products into those with learning difficulties, dementia etc., - which they are doing.

Well actually we do. Parents teach kids to use crossings rather than crossing just anywhere. They also teach them to look left, look right etc.

And considering with loans you should always be told how much the interest is/total amount repayable, they're essentially making an informed decision.

Also, they may not be targets due to their inexperience (plenty of older people take these loans btw). It may be because they're the demographic that is most likely able to afford the payments, since most of them wont have any other financial responsibilities and so have the most disposable income.

I believe MSE had a campaign to have financial education included at school and as of september 2014, it will be taught to teenagers throughout england.

Unholy Angel......of course people teach their children to use crossings.

BUT you miss my point completely!

This scenario is about a PARTNERSHIP, i.e. parents do their bit....and the STATE does theirs by PUTTING THE CROSSINGS IN in the first place!

And whilst I acknowledge that parental guidance in financial affairs is important, I am suggesting that it should not be a standalone measure (to use YOUR analogy.....there is a need for the government to put some road crossings (i.e. safety measures) in. The reason for this is that there will be a vast difference in parental financial nouse (for want of a better phrase).....and some parents are an absolute disaster themselves with money!

So I am very pleased to hear that financial lessons are going to be on the agenda for schools come September! Long overdue I think!

Oh right, well if it comes to pass, then that can only be a good thing.:T

Debt stress is expensive for society, with the emotional cost, with family breakdowns, and with the costs to the NHS, with the oft resulting mental Heath problems, plus the physical repercussions, as stress and depression can cause physical ailments..
