Fast track PPI claim

Hi All
To cut a long story short. I had several cards with PPI in 2000. I didn't know I had PPI at the time and had paid it for several years on about 5 accounts. In 1999 I realised I had PPI and cancelled it because I hadn't asked for it. How far back can I go to reclaim? Fast track have sent me all the paperwork. Will they be able to go back that far or am I wasting my time? Anyone have any idea please?
