Garden size

As it's illegal to build on more than half your garden area, they couldn't have had much to start with.
Hmmm.....because I can see a garden I know of that is virtually about to vanish under concrete.....
Which brings me down to:
- either it aint illegal
OR
- it is and that would be one way to be SERIOUSLY unpopular round here to mention it.
Ohforgawdsake to some of "what people seem to get up to round here (am I sure I'm still living in the same country, ie Britain?)". Honestly does wonder at times if I've emigrated in my sleep all unbeknownedst to me and am living in Outer Mongolia/the wilds of Africa/etc...rather than another part of Britain.
Would be interested if you can quote "chapter and verse" on that "illegal to build on more than half your garden" info please?
It did seem very odd to me when I spotted it...so I'm perfectly prepared to believe you're right on that one....0 -

I thought that it required planning consent rather than being illegal. So to be within permitted development rules you can only build on half your garden, but with planning permission you can build on more.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. You are correct, and I was simplifying. It is possible to build on more than 50% of your garden if you apply for, and are granted, planning permission.
In achieving that, I think you'd need to show good reason for increasing the built density to such a degree, but each case would be judged on its merits.
Where money lives, there's no huge population pressure on land, so there ought to be a good reason for relaxing the principle behind the permitted development rules. (probably being called Jones or Morgan would be sufficient! :rotfl:)0 -
and, by now, I'm prepared to believe you aren't joking Dave...:eek::cool:0

I have a medium sized garden with a fence around it and i have grown some plants in it . There is a flower bed too. I tend to it on the weekends. I have a sunny area so my little garden is colorful.Life is great0

We have a very large garden for the area we live in, looked at other properties in more rural areas and nothing even comes close as far as garden comes to mind!
The garden size is more important then the house in some ways0 -
