Ok,firstly I know I deserve no sympathy,I've been a complete fool! We're off to Turkey in less than 2 weeks and all the travel docs stated we now need to obtain evisas before we enter the country ( I've since discovered this isn't true and you can actually still buy them when you get there) I went to what I thought was the official website and bought them online. They cost around £12 each,so I was stunned to see from my credit card statement that the website (evisa eu.com do NOT click on it!) had charged me £55!!!! A swift google search revealed I'm not the only one to be taken in...I emailed them straightaway and surprisingly, they do offer a refund of their (£32!!) service charge, and according to them the visa will still be valid....which sounds too good to be true....and they'll only refund into my bank account so want bank account details. Any advice? Anyone else had this experience or am I the only dimwit on here?

Personally, I would provide details (account number and sort code) for a Savings account: one that does not permit direct debits and does not have an overdraft facility. That way, they have very limited scope for fraud but would be able to make a payment.
I also suggest that you revisit the site and make a 'dummy' application. Get as far as the payment page and see if there is any mention of the "service charge". If not, take a screenshot and send it to your card issuer with request for a chargeback: a merchant has to tell you the amount that they will be taking from your card and you have to agree to that amount.0 -
You can still get a sticker visa when you go to Turkey but it will cost you £20 and is only available for this season. It is far better to get your visa online but you have obviously used the wrong site and not the official one which Pompeypete has given you above.
I have heard of people getting refunds so I think it would be safe. have a look on the Trip Advisor forums, there is loads of information on e-visas and what to do on there.0
