Can anyone tell met rights on this...
I ordered a sofa bed from Argos only to find that the delivery info shown on their website & order confirmation was incorrect, this resulted in 2/3 failed deliveries & I ended up having it delivered the day I moved into my new house. This meant i couldn't open the package straight away. When I did open it i found that the legs supplied weren't as advertised & i had 2 different sets and no instructions. I originally asked for instructions, but after a few days was sent ones that only showed the type of legs shown on the website not the ones supplied. I then asked for new, correct, legs to be sent. Again after some delay they came back saying it wasn't possible to do that. They wont replace it as they have none in stock, and have only offered me a collection & refund, however, they will only collect mon-Fri 9-5 and so want me to take a day off work for this. As I've only just gone back after 3 wks off then this isn't possible (this has been going back & forth for 2 of those 3 wks). Argos originally offered me a goodwill gesture for my delivery problems but when I asked for a discount on my faulty product theyre now saying they wont give me one because of the £40 (which I haven't actually got as yet). Where do I go from here? Ive made a complaint but had no reply. Thanks!

    They have offered a full refund, what exactly is it you want? What is your complaint?

    I think it's this;

    But as they then go on to mention asking about a discount for the faulty product (presumably to keep it) I'm not 100% sure.

    OP, if the bed is now discontinued and they can't get you the legs, then they can't get you the legs. However last time I ordered a home delivery item from Argos I was able to choose a Saturday delivery slot. Are they not able to pick up the faulty bed on a Saturday so you don't have to take a day off work?

    OP, there is some good information in MSE's Failed Delivery article which may help you.

    Bris I think you have missed the point. I cant get a refund because I cant get the item collected, because they only collect whilst Im at work, and they waited until the last day of my hols to tell me that collection/refund was my only option.

    mije1983 - thanks for the suggestion, but as the item is delivered "direct from the supplier" then it is not subject to Argos delivery slots. This is one of my problems with Argos generally. I had loads of problems getting the item delivered because you only find out that its not delivered by Argos after youve have ordered it and get a random text. The order confirmation states "we will contact you to arrange delivery" and what happens in reality is you get a text message at 6pm one evening saying "your item will be delivered between 9am and 5pm tomorrow. Please ensure you available to take delivery". Like you can just not turn up for work the next day!

    wealdroam - thanks I'll have a look

    Unless you're a recluse i'm sure that a friend or family member may be able to do you a favour one day.... Especially if the times are fairly narrow..

    Think solutions, not problems!!!

    Daytona - The delivery slot is between 9 and 5. If they could give me a better estimate I might be able to go home at lunch etc, but they wont. I dont know about you but my friends and family all work like I do. It is not fair to ask other people to use their precious holidays for this! Maybe youd like my 88 year old gran to walk over from her house 20 odd miles away to wait in for me? Im not an idiot, I have thought of other options!
