Tesco Refund....

Options
Hiya,

We purchased a TV on the 09/05/2014 from Tesco's it arrived a few days later but was damaged, we rung the help line and stated we wasn't happy and that we didn't want to wait all the Bank Holiday weekend for a replacement.

They said we was well within our rights to use the broken one if it worked until we receive a replacement, which we did, The following Tuesday we received a replacement and asked the delivery people if they we're taking the old one but they said no!

It's now the 27th of May and we've heard nothing, I've just checked on our account on Tesco's which states 'Return Refunded' but we still have the TV here??

What do we do? The damage is only cosmetic and completely usable... Do we contact them or what??

Thank you for all your help in advance!

Contact them and ask if they want it returned. If they do, then it should be at a time, and in a manner, that is convenient for you. Of course, they should be paying.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

This happened to me. I got refunded but they didn't collect the old TV. By all means ask them again but I wouldn't worry about it.

    Thank you for your replies.:)

Is there any time scale that they have before they can no longer pick it up if you know what I mean ;)?

I'm just wondering as it's a item that is ment to be returned (it's brand new just cosmetic damage!) I don't get why they have made no contact to arrange a pick up for this item, it's not our job to chase them for a pick up is it??

This is what is showing on my account with Tesco

Order Number ******** - placed on -Placed on: 09/05/2014 - Status: Dispatched - Value: £0.00
Then we had our replacement turn up and now it says this:

    Order Number ******* - Placed on: 04/05/2014 - Status: Return Refunded - Value: £369.00

Really! Ahhh well I knew it was a long shot lol :)

Just have to store it out of the way somewhere just in case they do decide to collect, it just takes up so much space lol.

    Thanks for your reply.

They'd be none the wiser if you kept using it (maybe you have an inferior TV in a bedroom or somewhere you can swap it with?). As long as you kept the box safe so it can be repackaged if they decide they want it.

Usually tv's have that plastic stuff stuck to them nowadays. Plus a tv thats sitting in a box doesnt tend to get dust on the inside either ;)

OP can discharge themselves from their duty of care early, by following uncollected/abandoned goods procedure. Doesn't give them ownership of the goods, but it does allow them to dispose of them (or sell them for a fair price - no mates rates - and keep the proceeds for tesco for 6 years).
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

    Thanks for the replies everyone!!

Well they still haven't collected the product and I've since logged into my Tesco account and it now show the following -

    Return Details

Return Created 08 May 2014 at 02:26 Channel - csr Return Method - No return required

I'm now thinking this isn't going to be colleted at all.... What do you all think??

I'd be inclined to take a screenshot and then do whatever you like with the TV.

It looks to me like they don't want it back. I'd agree with the previous poster - keep a screenshot.

It's probably not worth their effort collecting it. If it was faulty, they could claim off the manufacturer. If it's damaged, then it's anyone's guess whose fault that is, and the value of the TV to them is likely to be less than the cost of collecting it.
