well he was back on the other day, but no replyDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

They know they are in the wrong over this, so will just ignore this thread and hope it goes away.Still rolling rolling rolling......

fully agree, makes me wonder why mse are been so quiet about itDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

So is it worth trying to claim this back?0

So I emailed them to ask them to refund the insurance premiums and remove it from my membership.
They have responded and refused to refund, but, have taken off all future insurance premiums.
I've asked them to confirm in writing and I will refer it to the Financial Ombudsman to see what they say.
Experian claim that if I wanted membership without the insurance, I should have opted to pay for the £2 report.
My argument is, I wanted full membership without being forced to take out insurance that I did not need and there was no option for that when I signed up.0 -

My thoughts too and part of the case I am sending.
To check a report daily over a month of 31 days would incur charges of £62 per month.
The membership is £14.99 for unlimited viewing including the unwanted £5.00 insurance premium.
Therefore, I feel that customers are forced to take out the unwanted insurance to gain access to the lower monthly fee.
I'll keep you posted, I received the written confirmation from them today and will be posting my complaint to the ombudsman tomorrow.0 -
Yes it was a ludicrous thing to claim.Still rolling rolling rolling......

I just thought I'd update you all.
My complaint to the Financial Ombudsman had 2 stages.
It was upheld at the 1st stage - Experian rejected the findings.
It then went to the Ombudsman for the final decision and was upheld again.
the Ombudsman advised Experian had to refund all the insurance premiums (additional £5 in the standard membership fee) plus 8% interest - all in all, over £100 back.
Experian have agreed to refund - however, in his letter he does state that they do not agree with his decision and are refunding as a gesture of goodwill.
It's taken a while, but I'm getting the refund of all the premiums I've ever paid to them plus the interest.0
