Energy Bill/Payments Help
Hi All, when I lived in my last place I was over charged every month for gas/electric so much so that I only lived there for 6 months and when I left, I contacted them because I was £480 in credit, which they then paid back to me.
We've bought a house and I'm keen for this not to happen again. I am aware that through the winter months we will use more than the summer, etc and it might even out (although I lived in my last place over the winter, so... maybe that's not how it works).
Basically, I want to know how I can pay for what I use and not over pay by so much. Is the way to do this by not going direct debit, and paying at the bank/PO or will it still happen?
It was with Cooperative btw.

Hi,
just set up an online account, provide monthly readings and then pay.0 -
I did that, which was how I knew I was in credit - because you had to log in to do the meter readings. If I hadn't have done it, I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it, and I probably wouldn't have realised I needed to contact them to get the money I'd overpaid when I left.0

Hi,
yes, but were you paying a fixed amount each month and ended up in credit?
With my original suggestion you just pay for what you've used each month.
