dual policy

Really need help

Sold my car and cancelled my insurance (insurance didn't permit driving other vehicles and would have closed after 7 days without a vehicle on policy)

My partner can't insure me on her policy due to me having a couple accidents which were non fault despite me putting in my old car as a new quote and my premium being £100-200 cheaper!)

Need a car to get to work the next 2-3 weeks before finding my own car. Public transport not an option due to remote locations

What are my options? I can't open a new policy on a car already with a policy with someone else?

Any way round it?

Why cant you get a short term policy?

They are costly but maybe cheaper than hiring.

Partner cancels her policy (may be expensive in terms of cancellation charges - check the terms of the policy) and takes out a new one with a company which will accept you as a named driver (check the comparison sites to find one).

Or you take out a short term policy on her car for a few weeks (Google "short term car insurance"). There's no reason why you can't have two policies running on the same car - usually there's no point as it just means paying twice, but it can make sense in situations like yours. Short term car insurance tends not to be cheap though - expect to pay quite a bit more than 1/26th or your annual premium.

Or hire a car (again not cheap).

Price them all up and decide which will be cheapest, or at least the less expensive.
