Who do I make my claim to?

I'm hoping for a little advice...
My partner and I took out a mortgage with Northern Rock in 2007, we took out the mortgage with a financial advisor from an estate agent. When we took out the mortgage we were advised that before NR would give us the mortgage we were both REQUIRED to take out a PPI policy to cover mortgage payments (legal & general provided the policies) however on looking at old policies and the small print, the policies that were sold to us by the FA would not have benefitted us.
My question is, when completing PPI claim forms, who would be responsible for the mis-selling? And could this actually be a valid claim? Would we complete and send forms to Northern Rock or Legal and General?
Hoping for replies, THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

How would they not benefited you?
One of the reasons most MPPI complaints fail is that they do benefit most people and they suffer less of the issues that loan and credit card PPI have.My question is, when completing PPI claim forms, who would be responsible for the mis-selling?
You complain to the adviser. And could this actually be a valid claim?
You havent said what your complaint is (other than it would not benefit you). What is the complaint?
If its just the unprovable allegation then that is an easy rejection as you almost certainly have no evidence to support that allegation. It is rare for any complaint to be upheld on that basis.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. How did the "small print' preclude you from benefitting from the insurance? Are you saying you would have been unable to claim for some reason? This does not seem credible given that this is mortgage insurance which does not suffer from the same generic faults as credit card and loan PPI sales.on looking at old policies and the small print, the policies that were sold to us by the FA would not have benefitted us.0
