DVLA 'Year of Manufacture'
I'm trying to get the DVLA to correct my car's 'Year of Manufacture' on their new online records.
Hopefully, before my insurance company notices the discrepancy, assumes that I gave them false information about the age of my car and threatens to cancel my policy.
The DVLA have told me that the 'Year of Manufacture' is copied from the 'Date of First Registration'. I can't believe this. There must be lots of other cars, like mine, that were built in one year and registered in the next year.
Please, can you to check the DVLA's online records for your cars.

Are the 'Year of Manufacture' and the year of the 'Date of First Registration' the same or different?

If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Sometimes the dates will be very close. A few months at most.
But not always the case. I looked at a 2002 car some time back but checking the manufacturers records i found it had actually been built in Dec 2000.
Where had it been for over 2 years?
Your insurance will go the reg number and registration date.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
do you know the actual date that your car was produced?
my car rolled off the production line on 11.02.2009, and it was first registered on 29.06.2009 so the two dates are the same being 2009
I had a mondeo a few years ago that rolled off the production line in November 2002 and the date of first registration was march 2003 so that car should have two different datesAre the 'Year of Manufacture' and the year of the 'Date of First Registration' the same or different?
they are different dates and if i had a car that had two different dates on the V5C then the date i would declare to insurance is the date of first registration as this is the date the car was sold as new0 -

However, if you can prove that your car was made the previous year (eg. to get cheaper/free car tax) you can provide the evidence. DVLA accept certified statements from legitimate owners clubs who have the original records.

Yes. From the VIN, it was built in September 2004. According to Ford (who are not happy with the DVLA telling owners to get a letter from them confirming the date of manufacture and then telling them that it can't be corrected) it was built on 28 September 2004.
It was first registered on 27 June 2005, 9 months later. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

One car I use to own some years ago is listed as first registered in November 1996, but built in 1995. I seem to remember that the V5 had a note saying not new at first registration. It was also on a M plate rather than a P plate.
Newer Ford's you can check online at http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do for a build date.0 -
The VIN number will give the exact month and year of manufacture. Usually the 10th and 12th digits. However it depends on the country and make. The manufacturer should give you that info from the VIN.
Alternatively the compliance tag on the seat belts will give you the year.
My car was first registered in April 2011 but was manufactured in 2010.0 -
what are your concerns
as i said before declare the date of first registration to your insurance0 -

Used to see an M reg Nissan Bluebird running around, which would have made it about 1994?
I'm also sure there was some Rover 827's registered a couple of years after Rover stopped using the Honda engines.0 -
I can't check at the moment, i can never remember the number and the car is out in the garage. I know it's 05.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I had an R reg Rover 825 that was nearly two years younger than a colleague's S reg 820.
I have another car with the wrong year of manufacture on the V5. When I changed address, I took the opportunity to correct the date on the V5. It was returned without the date being corrected.0
