I loved Playa del Muro near C'an Picafort and Alcudia, but as the poster above stated, Majorca seems to start running itself down a little in October, especially that coast.
The only resorts that stay open year round are on the side you have stayed, Santa Ponsa, Magaluff and Palma Nova.
Have you ever done Palma City for a short break. I love it. Get one of the hotels on the Passeo opposite the harbour and see all that Palma has to give. The city is fantastic, like a mini Barcelona, you can jump on a bus, from in front of your hotel and be 10 minutes away from a beach. You can get the Limon Express to Solier from the Plaza Espana and the the tram to Purto Sollier. The Cathedral, The 2 El corte Dept stores, The museums, The Minature village, loads to do.
There is a little cafe, up the side st opposite the El Corte on Jaime 111, which serves the best hot chocolate and almond cake in the world. You cannot get in on sundays, all the locals take their old mums and granny's there. The area around Born, is where all the great food places are, La bodega is a fantastic Tapas bar. Abaco is a bar you want to visit. It is in an old castle and as you go in there are barrel upon barrel of fresh fruit tumbling out. You sit on antique chairs and have birds in cages by your tables. About 10e for a bottle of beer, but hey ho !

The small Coffee shop with the hot chocolate and almond cake ( gato) to die for !

Some really nice hotels I have stayed in are
 Trypp Bellver
 Melia Palas atenea
 Melia Gran Victoria
Trypp Bosque ( off the front, but a bit quieter, airline staff stay here)
 Have a look at www.meila.com
We must have been there 4 or 5 times. Have done Palma all over Xmas and new year, It is Manic on New Year ! wont get to sleep until 7am Jan 1st. Really worth looking at.0

Soller / Port de Soller is very nice, as are the coastal hills from there in both directions - my favourite spot on the island.
Palma is a top little city, and Pollentsia / Alcudia I also like.
I do not like big resorts etc so take above comments in the context of that.0

My husband isn't a big sun lover and as ive already done 9 days with our children im happy to explore more this time. Be nice to go out on some boats and generally have a look around at where we are staying. Im very busy over the next few months with work (I do wedding d!cor) so October is really the only time I can fit in a little break, we said October half term as my parents can come from Wales to where we live to have our girls.Lincoln_Imp wrote: »Depends what you want to do whilst on holiday ?

In October I'd stop in Palma itself as most of the resorts will have begun closing down.
I've stopped in the Tryp Bosque before. Only a short walk to the promenade but with severa bars and restaurants close by.0

Book Direct with melia, if you can. They have a loyalty card scheme, which if you sign up to it, takes something like 10-20% off the prices shown. You also get other perks too.
It is a city that is compact, fun and the architecture is fantastic. I would love to live there if I could. Try and upgrade the room if you can, the Palas Atenea is a great hotel, but if you get the basic room, you could be at the side of the hotel above the topless bar ! a bit noisy at night. get a front room if poss. The breakfast there are to die for though. Massive buffet, eggs how you like them, pancakes, Cava for breakfast included in the price. We used to go down for brekkie, fill up then go back to bed ! lol.0

Another vote for the city of Palma. Nice hotels, interesting places to visit, great for eating out and easy travelling to other parts of Mallorca.
Get a cheap flight via a discount airline, bus from the airport is cheap and easy .. or taxi from about 20euros.Normal people worry me.0

We generaly go in the first two weeks in October and most places are still open. If you are a beach person Alcudia is good with a bit of life but not rowdy or CalaBona for a long sea front and walks.0
