Stronghold for Cats

So........ the cat flea saga continues.

I got some Stronghold for my dads cat. Cat is very frightened of everything and very long furred!
Cat arms and legs everywhere I tried to part the fur, while holding the cat in one hand and taking the pipette in the other I tried to get the stuff on. Wasn't sure I got it all on and got some on my hand, so then put the pipette down while I pulled the cats claws out the hand! Realised the pipette was leaking stronghold, I got another pipette out and tried again, this time I put about half on as he did have some out of pipette number 1! I could see it on his skin and fur but it wasn't in the same spot as the first lot.

Have I made a total mess of it? Will it matter if its not all been put in the same spot........?

Got dad some Staykill from vets too, but he is severely asthmatic and vet said to be careful using it.

Hand looks like I've been in the war........

Poor cat! The easiest way to do it is wrap the cat in a towel and someone else administer it. Cut a small bit of fur away if you need to. As long as it gets on the skin it should work. I've got a long haired cat and I part the fur until I see skin, squeeze it all out en using the nozzle from the pippet, give it a good rub onto the skin. We've never had fleas.

I can truly sympathise! Been there, done that, got the plasters!!! It actually doesn't matter where the flea control goes. Back of the neck is recommended as it's more difficult for the cat to lick off, but one of my cats used to be so wild, that I had to take her to the vet each month for them to apply it. I can remember one time them applying it to her rump, as it was the only place available.
BTW I haven't read any of your previous threads, but it's very important to de flea the house if there is a flea problem, as only about 5% of the fleas are living on the cat, the rest are in the carpets, soft furnishings etc. I use Acclaim or Indorex, which only has to be applied once a year, and have never had a flea problem (I have 3 cats). As your Dad is asthmatic, maybe he could go out for a few hours while the house was being treated?

Putting it on in several spots is fine.

It's always wise to treat a house for fleas as well as puss, but Stronghold is super good at killing fleas around the house.
We had an infested carpet and I don't know how many tubs of powder I dumped on it nor how many hours I left it.
When we were prescribed Stronghold the Vet advised us to encourage her to roll around on the carpet once treated and within less than a day 99% of the blighters were gone from cat and carpet!
