Something is eating my campanulas..leaving everything else in the garden (and there is plenty to eat, and plenty next to the campanulas) but eating the campanulas..I've gone from having one chomped to 5 gone overnight. Devastation! No apparent sign of slugs, but not saying its not them. Ideas?

Sorry, mine have never been eaten by bugs, maybe something underground? Any wild rabbits near?

We used to have rabbits when we first moved in, but there are 2 cats on one side, 3 on the other, and multitudes with other neighbours, so rabbits no more as far as i know. Apparently voles like them too, but cant see them standing a chance either. Another one gone this morning!

I've had the 'blue chips' one destroyed by slugs (and I even put an emergency jam jar over it to give it time to recover but they came back:() Another one (different type) is growing rampantly through aubretia and ivy with no problems. Maybe it's just certain varieties that they like? I'll post the name of the surviving one later today if that's any help.
Label advised protecting young growth from slugs...:(

it could be slugs - i've had pink and purple primulas in the same pot this year, the purple ones have been completely chomped, the pink ones right next to them are perfectly fine .

It was the white clips variety that was chomped, a different variety of blue has so far been ok...thank you! xx

It is the campanula muralis major that is romping away without slug intervention. In fact, it's growing up some ivy on the fence behind it so maybe it's only the 'chips' variety that are favourite with slugs.
Balletshoes I read on another thread that mice seem to eat red and purple flowers, after I actually watched one picking the red petals off my primula! (Maybe they contain antioxidants like red fruit and veg!)
