This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Where is everybody ? I felt sure that the daily would have been started by now. Bright sunshine here typical after the rain all day yesterday.
Off to work for me and it will probably be quite busy as its half term and we have events on all week.
Summer in winter chicken for dinner which is always a favourite here and nice and quick after working all day.
My conservatory looks like a laundry atm with dry clean washing that needs putting away, I shall do mine tonight and ask the others to do theirs, then out another wash on and start the whole process again !
Islandmaid lovely ring xx
Have good days all xx

I've been laying out balls of yarn on the floor, I've got into a bit of a messThough in my head, it's a perfectly good system  I've sorted them into colour combos for each type of blanket, I just need to find storage boxes or something so I can keep an eye on how much I've got of each one. They were all stored together in a big box before and I had to empty it out to find what I needed. My sample blankets are ready, I'm about to start making them to sell – feeling a bit excited

If I don't see some sea soon, I'm going to lose the will to live. I'm desparate to get down to Mevagissey, even if it's only for a couple of days. The canal is near my house, I'll have to make do with that for now.
My potatoes are growing well. At least the plants are, I have no idea about the amount and state of the potatoes underneathWe grow them in black bins, the leaves have reached the top.
Despite my reservations, we've made elderflower champagne. We lost half of the last batch we made, too much yeast = exploding bottlesWe bottled it up yesterday, fingers crossed please. lol

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, very wet underfoot and is still now raining, it started during the night.
DH up and gone to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was chicken goujons, new potatoes and salad for DH and myself, boys had already eaten just before I collected them from the outlaws. Dinner tonight will be sausage and mash, with veg and onion gravy.
Weekend was excellent, met lots of new people but also managed to catch up with lots that we know and don’t see very often. The weather did make it very wet and very muddy – but we just made the best of the situation. I’m working my way through the washing, I was hoping that the weather would be better today so at least I could get the washing dry on the line but that’s not going to happen! The Reception that we organised was excellent – to the point where we had to ask people to leave – as the marquee was being used for another Reception after ours.
Back to work today – hoping it’s busy so the time passes quickly as the house looks a bit of a bomb site and I have several things to get sorted – I will be doing the best I can through the week after work, although I’ve only got a full day today then I finish at lunchtime tomorrow until next Monday – and we’re not away this weekend so we’ll use that time to sort anything else out that we need to – there’s quite a bit of camping gear in the porch as we didn’t need to take it this weekend so we need to take bits back to where they belong.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Another damp day here so no washing on the line.
Hugs to Molly, hilly & LW, congrats to Islandmaid.
Hubby & I are using our bus passes today to go into town, I want to buy some fabric for a 'Frozen' dress & we will have a meal in one of the pubs in town.
DD is borrowing my car today so she can take her kids to some free events & she'll bring it back later, tomorrow we have DGS to stay overnight & Thursday we are going to see the other DGC's including the twins.
It is payday Thursday & I need to get a new tyre for my car, one of them has very little tread, it's still legal, but barely.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Morning All
Molly - You are an amazing woman.
Islandmaid - Congratulations, the ring is gorgeous!
Sorry to hear of your little guinea pig sistercas.
Well, I am back after a fantastic weekend. Started on Thursday evening with dinner out and then to see Wicked, then went to a friends house for a couple of drinks with friends.
Friday was a visit to the Ideal Home Show in Glasgow which was really good, got lots of ideas for the house then drove with DD up to the highlands for a weekend with some very good friends. Lots of walking which was brilliant. We saw 2 Golden Eagles, hundreds of deer and went dolphin spotting on Saturday evening and were lucky enough to see them (actually think it was just one but I will say there were loads!!).
Back last night - DS2 cooked dinner which was lovely, unpacked and that was the end of the weekend. Back to work today, not long till we finish now.
Builders coming back today to do the back of the roof, I have a list of jobs for them too!
Hope you are all well, hugs to those feeling down. Take care. XX0 -
Good Morning all,and a very wet and dark morning it is here in the Garden of England:( Dentist's 6 monthly check-up today for my 4 DGS so that will take care of half the morning at least
tru I put my wool from the stash into clear plastic bags by colour and usually have an assortment of left over smaller balls to use up when making my charity blankets so I use them up in a stripey effect by doing two rows alternately in different colours when making squares, helps to use up odds and ends of wool. I have a large old square box that was my DDs toy box many years ago which I lined with quilted material and stapled to the inside This holds all my stash of wool and its by my chair in the sitting room in an alcove, handy for when I am knitting while watching t.v.:) I really never waste anything in the way of wool :rotfl:My friend donates her left over balls from her crochet squares so I do get some interesting colours
Right time to get a wriggle on as I feel the kettle is calling for my first cuppa this morning.
I do hope the weather picks up a bit it looks very dark at the moment
have a good 'un what ever you are doing
Cheers chums

Good morning everyone
DH is finishing his online standardisation for exam marking then we are back on the decorating jobs at DD's new house. Bedrooms are completely finished, living room probably needs one more coat of green then I am on the gloss .... and there's a lot to do. Kitchen and bathroom ceilings have been painted but probably need another coat today. Bathroom walls are ready to paint, kitchen needs some sanding work then we can start to do that. It's really hard work but it's looking great, when carpets start to go in tomorrow, will try and get some photos on facebook.
Raining today so no gardening getting done, bit of a pain because it keeps GDD quiet, she loves digging, cutting and raking!
DD was very stressed yesterday then I found out she hadn't taken her antidepressants for 3 days
sistercas - sorry to hear about your guineapig
Islandmaid - congratulations on your engagement and wow, what a beautiful ring!
Love and hugs for Molly, LW and hilstep x

Morning all,
A frozen dress? Perish the thought!;):D
Just a few bits and pieces to do today as I did quite a lot yesterday whilst hubby was repairing the fence. It will be easier to do now hubby is back at work as he usually gets in the way.
Lucy dog is still limping but much better. Stairgates are a pain in the backside. Not only are we carrying Lucy up and down the stairs (she weighs a ton). Millie dog sits at the bottom of the stairs crying to be carried up too. Sod that for a lark!
Beef for tea I think. Not sure what I'm doing with it yet. That will be thought of later.
I'm mithering about Mom. I knew this would happen once I started visiting her again.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning everyone,
Islandmaid Congratulations, gorgeous ring.
Molly, Hilstep Hugs.
Hester Is the dress for you or a granddaughter?
Judi No mater what she says I am sure that your mum appreciates your visits.
Went prom shoe shopping with DD1 yesterday. Get some lovely shoes but I have no idea how she is going to walk in them! She is 5' 7" tall but in the shoes she is over 6 foot! They do look beautiful though.
Quiet day today, OH is back at work, DS has an extra shift at the shop, DD! is revising and I have no idea what DD2 has planned, there will definitely be something!
Have a lovely day everyone:)0
