UKCPS letter thru post - Not my car!

Options
Hi..
Sorry if its been discussed before - i couldnt find it on a search.

I recently received a lovely letter through the post from UKCPS - a PCN for overstaying a stipulated time limit at "BM-Bradford"

However - given i dont live in bradford, and was at work at the time means it wasnt me, or my vehicle.

Given i havent found this covered in the stickys - do i just issue a general appeal letter stating that its not me? or send a letter disputing the charge and ask for the evidence?

Thanks in advance

CG

Did the letter contain any images (some PPC's include the ANPR camera images on the first letter). If not then you can just appeal as per the Newbie sticky thread but adding an extra point that it was not your car.

In this case, I would write and tell them that they either have the wrong Registration of a cloned car. Tell them where your car was at the time and ask them to send a photo of the vehicle in question.

Suggest they have made an honest mistake or been deceived by a cloned car and, under the circumstances, you would want to take evidence to the police in case of any future problems.

Should they not wish to comply, then you would demand a POPLA code where you can appeal.

I disagree with part of guys post, you send a letter saying this is not an appeal, and you are demanding this ticket be cancelled as the vehicle was not there, and too provide evidence if they think it was. Don't ask for a popla code at all, you are not appealing this you are demanding they rectify their mistake, as that is what it's likely is.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

UKCPS have done this before - and when the mistake was pointed out they did cancel it. Do appeal along the above lines but if you end up taking it to POPLA, then that argument won't necessarily win (strangely) and you'd need the usual contract law points as well to make sure.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
