Hi there - what was meant to be a cheap bank holiday might now have turned into an expensive one!!
Went to T K Maxx in Stockport at a retail outlet and parked outside the store. After 45 minutes of milling around we went to pay for a fee items. We had left our wallet in the car so the cashier said - 'oh, does that mean you haven't paid for parking?' We were shocked to hear there was a parking charge!! We didn't have any cash on us so I ran to Asda and got cash and then bought a ticket about 15 mins later.
Anyway, now worried that we are going to be charged £60!! We honestly didn't see any parking charge signs and walked straight into the store without noticing anything. I'm hoping the fact that we bought a ticket before leaving the complex will be mitigating factor.
Fingers crossed we will be lucky and nothing will come through the post! Any advice welcome. We are really trying to pay off debt so this potential charge is really not a welcome prospect! Many thanks!

Try not to panic too much. If you do get a Parking Charge Notice it is beatable. In the meantime have a read of the Newbies sticky thread for information on what may be to come. If you search the forum for Excel and Peel you will see that they are regularly beaten.0

Read the NEWBIES thread and do a search for 'Peel' as a keyword and you'll understand why one of the comments in the NEWBIES thread is to beg for no more new threads about the Peel Centre! You will find what you need to know in the sticky thread about how to appeal and the search will show you how often this place crops up on here.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0 -
you will need to keep the ticket you bought and wait and see if an NTK turns up , if it does you appeal it and scan and attach a copy of the ticket, hopefully they will then cancel , if not you send an appeal to popla (but not based on buying a ticket , but on legal grounds)
all explained in the newbies thread at the top of the forum
do nothing else for now (except research) , come back if any NTK arrives (within 2 weeks or so)
keep all paperwork for months or years for now (up to 6 years)0 -
As an add on to Redx, also keep any receipts for the things you purchased while shopping.0

Just to try and reassure the OP... if youve paid you might be OK
I made a similar mistake to you about 6wk ago.. I only realized it was pay&display as i was leaving the carpark.
I parked up across the road then paid for parking at the machine.
Its been 6 weeks and i havent had a PCN thru the door. :-)
As mentioned above, keep your ticket and recept for things purchased just in case.
Good luck!0
