CEL County Court Action

I'm helping a friend (honestly!) who has received a County Court summons from Civil Enforcement Ltd. Unfortunately he was simply told to ignore the letters and no action would be taken, he's now received the summons.
To be honest I'm quite surprised they've taken this course of action, he did actually pay for a ticket but as he's a new driver he was one digit out when he typed in his registration. About an hour later he realised his error and returned within the 2 hour window and purchased a new ticket with correct registration details. Thankfully he has both tickets
When he got the initial notice he appealed and got a stock reply from The Co-Ops Customer relations department stating they made representations to CEL but the appeal was unsuccessful.
This has now led to CEL taking the court route.
Usual particulars, state they have a contract with the Co-Op (which again surprises me given what I've read in other CEL threads), car park private property using ANPR, there are clear signs with the T&C's, entered into a contract and claiming breach of contract and/or damages for trespass (£130).
I've read through the newbies post for some draft pleadings but any additional help would be appreciated. In particular amongst other things in the defense I was thinking of arguing that they must be a unaccounted £2 for the car park for that day.

It sounds like your friend has not only paid the PPC, but has overpaid. This should be included as it points to no loss being incurred etc.0

just use the forum search function to find dozens of similar threads where the people are told to acknowledge and fight the case, but also to complain to the co-op direct as the co-op is paying the charges, this should mean the court claim is dropped once CEL are paid
its also been blogged on parking pranksters website too, so look there as well

The Co-op will pay this off. But draft a defence and acknowledge the claim of course in case it drags on a bit.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
