All Motorway Services in Germany (and Austria too I think) have a number of woman-only spaces - well lit at night and near the main entrances.

They have had them since the mid-nineties.

Women travelling alone at night, or with kids on board, often feel vulnerable if they have to walk a distance to the services.

Some of our UK services are pretty scary places at night.

A good idea in my opinion.

Now we need to stand by for jokes about Conchita Wurst I expect.
