benefits while on sabbatical

I've been working form my current employer for 3 year. Recently had some health problems and been signed off from work. It doesnt look that I will be able to go back to work soon, also will be going to half pay in couple of mothns. I'm considering sabbatical but not sure if I will be able to claim any benefits. Any ideas.

I've tried benefits calculators but most of them based calculations on last year's earnings and for that reason I won't qualify for anything but child benefit.

A sabbatical is really unpaid leave so I don't see you being entitled to any extra as you are still employed

You should still be entitled to housing benefit but I think thats all.

Blondebubbles, I'm married, one child under 1 year, husband works 30 hrs, £21000, last year income £16000, husband £14000,no childcare, bought 25% property - shared ownership, no benefits other than child benefit.
I cant see any other option with my work, after 3 months half pay will get nothing. Thought that sabbatical will give me a chance to get my health sorter out and then return to work

If you have health problems, you might be better claiming ESA, when you reach that point, with your wages dropping , as you may be entitled to the contributory element.

He would probably gonna have to look at increasing his hours. Forgot to mentioned that I've already got 1st warning for sickness absence and worry I might get final and then loose my job so want to try to do something to avoid that.

Are you having treatment for your illness? Does your medical professional give you a timescale when you could be expected to recover?

I am, had physio paid by work, now referd to specialist, GP says it could get better on its own or not. Dont want to lose my job due to my health problems cause once its better I may struggle to find a different one

No way that your employer could make adjustments so you could perhaps continue to work?

They saying they have done all adjustments. I worry that when I return to work and due to my health will have to be off sick again that will be a reason for final warning and capability hearing! The same can happen if I carry on being off sick
