"The whole thing's a joke. I've written to Premier Parking Solutions but still haven't received a response.
"I phoned up and was told the fine was valid. To that, I said 'see you in court, then'.
"The woman I was speaking to then replied, 'We don't do courts, we send round bailiffs' and then put the phone down on me."
The Derby Telegraph contacted PPS and was told the charge had been cancelled as "a goodwill gesture".
The company's general manager, Barrie Douglass, also denied Mr Buckland's version of events.
He said: "Having checked the system and having spoken to the restaurant, it would appear that it was user-error causing the problem at the time."
