What'd really help is a Google Maps aerial view. If you don't want to give you location away, then screenshot it and post to Photobucket or Flickr or whatever.

Thanks, I've just had a quick go at this, but I can't seem to get a screen shot which doesn't show my postcode.

To be honest though, I'm not sure it matters what the layout is. I really just wanted to know whether I have to accept whatever they say they want to do, or whether, given that it is my property, I have a say in it. I don't want to ask anything unreasonable or be awkward, it's just that I want whatever is done to be to a decent standard, and in keeping with what is already there. I think anyone would feel the same about their own property surely?

Interestingly I have just re-read the developer's letter and spotted something I missed. They think that WE have altered the property and put the gravel down since buying the house, hence why they are offering to change it for free "as a gesture of goodwill". When in actual fact they laid the gravel before I bought it (I'm the first owner).

Check with the council first, they may say the gravel has to stay to aid drainage

I don't think you are being too fussy. I would also want it all to match up.
