Holy cow that is a pricey kitchen! True enough out Homebase one was in the sale, but it was all itemised and easy to follow what we were getting. To the point that I was researching specific items and they price matched, even online prices. Think I saved the best part of £1k by haggling a bit and finding cheaper online.0

Most people who buy based on cost savings aren't too fussed about whether it's solid wood or veneered. Or whether it's solid granite or some artificial build.
Sad but true...:(
Have quoted against Howdens before and been cheaper than them for what is a slightly better product, and had customer ask me why we do not offer the discount levels they do, as if the ridiculous list price which no one ever pays means it must be a better product!

I quite agree...there seems to be something vaguely dishonest about all this discount business.
I know its a sales trick to make you BUY NOW!! and you should only look at the bottom line price, but when a company sings about what massive discounts they give and then doesnt give the same discount to every customer you cant help doubting whether you did actually get the best price or have they turned you over?
I know everyone has their own pet hate company's - mine is Howdens and luckily I have found a better place to buy my kitchens from that don't pluck their prices out of the air - well they might but at least it doesnt seem so made up.
I did alot of homework on trade kitchen places, as I buy about 5 or 6 a year and have been able to save consistently over £1,000 per kitchen over what I would have if I just went staright to Howdens.
In my experience Benchmarx are a bit better than Howdens (price wise) and they dont do the 75% discount nonsense. Wren on the other hand are even more duplicitous - and even make their price comparison charts up. I actually went through each one against published price lists. I couldnt see any correlation. I knew they wouldnt be comparing themselves to a Howdens 75% discount price but they werent even using the list prices!!!!
I sound like I am ranting.... but see my other posts here if you want to see where i found was the best place to get kitchens from.....i will start a new thread on the subject when I work out how to do that (newie and technophobe is not a good combination:rotfl:)0
