Reminds me that the day before FIL was due to marry MIL, HIS mother told him that they couldn't be married because although he thought his name was Fred Bloggs, it wasn't. They phoned the vicar, in deep distress, and he assured them it was fine because as he'd always been known as Fred Bloggs, he could be married as Fred Bloggs, whatever his birth certificate might say.
