Ive told argos i dont want their bloody bread bin now 915/7150, but I was rather annoyed to go in store and give my reservation number (placed yesterday) for 9.99 and be told the price was now 19.99 (the price apparently went up on 19th may according to the store, which is days before i reserved it ), I tried to tell them it was 9.99 but they were not having any of it and I got really embarrassed in store with everyone looking at me thinking i was someone trying to do argos out of a tenner! _pale_ I had an email with the price on it but obviously they wouldnt believe me as it was a case of...... computer says no!
When I got home I queried with them on their Facebook page - i was told the price in store was 19.99 but the price currenly online is 9.99 and on the day i reserved it it was 9.99 (and the email i have says 9.99) Needless to say I wont be buying my new bread bin or anything else from Argos! I asked for the price to be changed in store and they cant access the store prices or tell them to change it today and will pass it on to someone to look into it! So this means in the meantime people who buy in store will be paying twice the price!!!! for god knows how long
I havent been given an explanation as to why the prices are so different, and I am absolutely stunned that they cant ring the store and ask them to change the price - surely they can! I think i was just given the blah blah....
This got me wondering, as normally i just browse the catalogue and buy in store and never think to check online! So fellow MSErs :money: please check prices online before you buy in store because you could be paying TWICE THE PRICE!! eeeeeeek!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a store having goods priced differently online versus in store.
Lots of places do it.
Do you realise that different branches of the same store chain can even have different prices if they wish?0 -

But the store having the item at a different price isn't the problem that the OP had.
Whenever you reserve something and arrange to pick it up in the store, you pay the online price on collection and not what it is being sold for in the store, and this online price is clearly stated on the reservation documents but the store tried to charge the OP the full store price.0 -

The website FAQs say:Please note that the price you pay is the price in store on the day you collect your items.0 -
I agree that this is stated in the FAQ's page, (I missed it when I typed my earlier post) but there seems to be no mention of it either on the Click and Collect page:
https://www.argos.co.uk/static/StaticDisplay/includeName/Reserving.htm
nor does this info appear anywhere on your reservation you get when saving the item nor does it show on the e-mail confirmation that you receive.
Both of these simply state the price that was shown online when you placed the reservation.
I understand the need for them having to charge the latest price, but I would have thought that it would have been extremely easy to have this stated on the reservation paperwork & e-mail confirmation.0 -
thanks for all the replies, but i just wanted to make sure people were aware and checked the online price before they use Argos in store, because to me a difference of 9.99 to 19.99 seems an excessive price difference as its 50% more expensive !!!! Even if you ordered it online and paid the 3.75 postage it would come in at £6.25 cheaper which is more than 25% of the price. Usually its more expensive to get online purchases as there is the cost of delivery but this is the other way round! its complete nonsense pricing to me!

Apart from groceries, I can't remember the last time I couldn't find something cheaper online than in a physical store.0 -
The item is still showing as £9.99 for collect in store so a complaint to HO is in order.0

There absolutely is everything wrong with it. Businesses should treat their customers with respect. If this was me, I'd stop shopping at Argos for a few months in protest. Don't think that because a company has the legal right to mess you around, that you as a consumer should stand for it.
There's nothing worse than driving 5 miles to buy an item you saw online, only to find it costs twice as much in the store.0
