trip to the shard

I asked ds what he wanted to do in the holidays and he said he wanted to go to the yard! After much confusion on my part and many questions he reveled it was made of glass and I realised he wanted to go up the shard :rotfl:

I am thinking of pre-booking tickets as it saves a few pounds but I have no idea how long it takes to get from the station (kings cross) to there. It is easy for me to work out what tubes we need to get on but I have no idea what distance or time it takes to get between stops. Is there a website that will tell me this?

Also I was wondering about going to the aquarium in the afternoon as I have some discount tickets, but again I am clueless how long it will take us to get from the shard to the aquarium and then back to Kings Cross :o

Anyone been up the shard any tips/helpful info for us?

Thanks
