Bluebells need to be replanted
We inherited a rather neglected garden and I would like to improve the one border, it is full of bluebells and forget me knots which are very pretty for a few weeks in the spring but by now we have no colour at all. In amongst the bluebells are plenty of weeds, and I will need to remove them in order to get rid of the weeds.
When is the best time of year to remove the bluebell bulbs?
Should I leave them to dry before replanting?
Any other advice?

IIRC Monty on GW was moving/dividing his right after the flowers were over but the plant was still actively rooting0

Got some to move myself and looking round the tinterweb, the general consensus seems to be after they've flowered cos you'll struggle to find the bulbs once they die back.
Interestingly, HERE the RHS reckon "Bluebells are strongly resistant to weedkillers and it appears that no garden weedkiller will kill them" (but blame them, not me if that turns out to be wrong
). "We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."

I can confirm they're practically bombproof in my garden ...
It's always said that bulbs like snowdrops do best if transplanted 'in the green' i.e. after flowering when the leaves are still on, so I'd agree with the others who say that about now would be a good time.0 -
We too have tons of bluebells in the garden, I have dug them up and moved them around loads and they've always come up bigger and tougher than ever. They're pretty thuggish and they multiply under the soil so they're pretty tough to kill. I'd just dig up as many as you can find and heel them in somewhere until you're ready to put them back in the main bed.0
