Carbase Indemnity Fee

I think I may have been mis-sold an insurance product when I bought a car recently.
I bought a car from Carbase, Lympsham (near Weston Super Mare). When time came to pay, I noticed an extra £100 had been added to the price under "options".
I asked why and was told that the options were a non-optional indemnity charge, to protect me in case the car was cloned, used to secure a loan etc.
I was told that this condition was "clearly" displayed in writing (small print on a piece of card in tax disc holder).
At the time, I felt pressured and opted to pay to buy the car.
I've since scoured their website and can find no mention of the fee. Also, looking through the paperwork, the only evidence is that it appears on my receipt. I have no T&Cs paperwork etc.
Please can you help me answer:
1. Is it an insurance product?
2. Did I have a right to shop around for this from a 3rd party insurer?
3. Are Carbase allowed to insist this charge be paid as a requirement of the sale?

It sounds like it yes, you need to speak to the dealer. I thought these were to protect you incase of any outstanding finance on the car.5LeafClover wrote: »Please can you help me answer:
